'A Kind of Magic"
DBO Stage and Event Lighting
March 2010

320 performers from age 6 upwards; over 600 costumes; 6 performances and hundreds of hours of hard work over a two year period resulted in the Angel School of Dance putting on the best show since the school began performing back in 1983.

A Kind of Magic’  told the story of a little girl who dared to dream of a land far, far away, a place where anything is possible, where elves and wizards ruled the green, lush, lands.  A place where sorcerers and goblins danced in the shimmering moonlight.  A place where pixies and fairies waltzed on the whistling winds. In her dreams she knew she could achieve anything. She could be whatever she wanted to be.....for this place, unlike any other, was full of magic.

For six nights the stage in the Arts Hall at Chepstow Comprehensive School was transformed by a magical stage set, amazing lighting and talented dancers.  2,280 people saw the show over the six performances and the feedback we have received has been overwhelming.

Katie Burton was superb in the part of our little girl and one of our ex-pupils, Libby-Rose Bruce came over from Spain to perform a solo to Il Divo’s ‘Isabel’.

All those involved with the show were proud to play their part in making this the most exciting performance staged by Angela Fryer, Principal, Angel School of Dance.

A huge thank you is extended to all those who made this year’s performance ‘magic’.

All proceeds of the shows will be donated to various charities. Our main charity this year is the Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB) and we will announce the other charities in due course.

We are planning an evening of celebration on Saturday 29th May at Chepstow Leisure Centre when we will present the donations to the chosen charities. There will also be a disco for all the performers and parents to say thank you for their commitment and hard work.

Show DVD – our filming crew from Cardiff are currently editing the large volume of footage from all six performances to produce a final version which we hope will be on sale early May. DVD cost and availability to follow.
