Drew Barker-Wright Foundation
In February 2017 Drew lost his fight with cancer. He slipped into a coma and passed away in the early hours of Friday 24th February, just a few weeks after his 4th birthday. He died peacefully at home surrounded by his family and those who loved him.
His parents Mel & Jon are in the process of setting up a charitable foundation in Drew’s name. It’s quite a lengthy legal process and they are working closely with solicitors to get things right. The website is currently under construction and will be live as soon as they gain their charity registration.
Due to rarity of Drew’s cancer we would like all funds raised to be used to target paediatric chordoma research, as there is none taking place in the UK. Mel and Jon are passionate that this is where Drew’s money should go and consequently, they have made it their mission to make this happen.
Amelia was born with a very rare and complex heart condition. She was born with only half a working heart, a condition known as Tricuspid Atresia, VA concordance with normally related great arteries. She has many other congenital heart defects to go with this, atrial septal defect, ventricular septal defect. Narrowing of the pulmonary arteries. The list goes on.
Amelia’s parents started the charity Amelia Matters in 2011 and have since supplied 200 warfarin machines to families with children with congenital heart disease, and organised many support group meetings and meet up events.
